Tower Of Cataclysm

The Tower of Cataclysm is the hard work of Alistair Mortayne, now just known as Lord of the Tower to some of its residents.

The Tower at a Glance

Cataclysm's lower storeys are sheer, unscalable monolithic stone blocks; higher tiers bristle with gargoyles and windows that are as black as the stone beside it. There are, however, balconies and outcroppings from the tower for a brave climber or those gifted with flight. The only visible openings are the main entrance, tiny balcony on the 3rd floor and three large archways on the 29th floor.

Tower Information

The tower is 30 floors high with two basement levels. The first 6 floors are man-made, with the first 2 floors being made from large monolithic stone blocks. This is done to make it harder to climb the tower. After the 6th Floor, the tower is much grander, and the level of detail is beyond the greatest of masons. This was summoned at a later date. The black stone is clearly from the mountains to the north, as it matches the tower's dark, ominous look.

Some Tower Stats!

This tower is thousands of years old and in excellent condition, especially compared to Grimrest to its south. Tower Defenses The tower itself is robust but could be susceptible to outside attacks from monsters or siege weapons. The Lord of the Tower thought of this! Any attack or damage to the tower from the outside will first alert 1d4 Gargoyles. If these defenders run into resistance, they will pull Horns of Dragon Summoning from their belts and use them to summon nearby Tower Dragons.

Tower Windows

All windows on floor six and up are heavily enchanted. If hit with an attack or spell, they absorb the attack and then reflect it in a 15ft cone. Save Vs Breath to avoid. Does the same damage as the attack that hit it. To break these windows, you must first dispel them. The outside of the tower from the 6th floor up is covered in windows; most of these are for show and have no rooms behind them. If these windows are smashed, the party will be greeted with more dark stone.

The tower's ultimate exterior defence is the Dragon Aviary on the 29th Floor, which homes the Tower Dragons. These dragons have an entire floor cut off from the rest of the tower. They might be on the younger side, but nobody wants to fight multiple blue dragons.
